Our First iPhone App

Thicksole released it’s first iPhone app last month.  Not only is it a new platform for us, but it was very exciting to work with a client that moved fast and understood the importance of “shipping”.  It’s an app that is meant to support their market-leading textbook, BOONE & KURTZ CONTEMPORARY BUSINESS.  Simulating a deck of flashcards, the app lets students review key terms and definitions from the 18 chapters of the book.

You can take it for a test spin here.

Exciting times around here, plus we have a couple more apps in the works.

Jeffrey Krames is a bit of a legend in the book business and we were happy he came to us to build (and maintain) his website.  What started out as a quest to put together a simple blog, the site evolved over time to not only be a landing zone for his publishing efforts, but also a core of his new publishing venture!

He blogs three days a week without fail and his audience has grown exponentially.  If you’ve ever looked for an “inside baseball” type of perspective into the world of book publishing, look no further.  Your first and final stop can be http://jeffreykrames.com.

If you stop by, tell him Paul @ Thicksole sent you.

Reusing Your Template

A few months ago we put together a Wordpress site for John Wiley & Sons with a custom template modeled after their main site.  Instead of a one and done job, they were able to reuse the design for multiple sites!

This does a few things —- carries a consistent brand across different products, keeps costs REALLY low, and cuts development time in half (back to the low cost again).  We love it and we’re glad to be a part of this new initiative.

Check out the sites here:
