When I started Thicksole in 2000, the core idea was “tell me what you do and I’ll work to help you do it better using affordable technology.”  Today, it’s pretty much the same but with more focus on getting non-technical professionals comfortable with web technologies so they have the freedom to create, build an audience, have conversations, and share.  In 2011, I put together a 3-day training session that aimed to get a marketing department up to speed and ready to roll with everything they’d need to build and maintain a WordPress website.  From buying a domain and setting up web hosting, to installing WordPress, and customizing they look & functionality using widgets, CSS, and HTML.  We even covered essentials like FTP, MySQL and turnkey applications that no web pro would be without!

My goal was to have them set up and manage sites of their own, and by the end of the year, that’s exactly what happened as they pushed their own creations live after working in a “sandbox” for weeks.  Satisfying?  You know it.
